چکیده

Our goal is to improve patient outcomes and safety through medical device interoperability. To achieve this, it is not enough to build a technically perfect system. We present here our work toward the validation of middleware for use in interoperable medical cyber-physical systems. This includes clinical requirements, together with our methodology for collecting them, and a set of eighteen ‘design pillars’ that document the non-functional requirements and design goals that we believe are necessary to build a successful interoperable medical device system. We discuss how the clinical requirements and design pillars are involved in the selection of a middleware for our OpenICE implementation. 1998 ACM Subject Classification J.3 Life and Medical Sciences, D.2.1 Requirements/Specifications

Poster Abstract : A Cyber-physical Middleware Framework for Continuous Monitoring of Water Distribution Systems

The middleware for a cyber-physical system is crucial as it tightly integrates computation with physical processes to achieve better reliability, distributed coordination, higher precision and efficiency, and better autonomous control. In this work, we design and develop the cyber-physical middleware framework for a large-scale water distribution system monitoring effort.

Proposed Middleware for Sensor Networks in Cyber-Physical System Environments

This paper describes the modeling proposal of a middleware for sensor networks in Cyber-Physical (CP) environments adopting the reuse of Designs Patterns, which must favor the coupling in the underlying layers of the middleware and facilitate the communication between components in the upper layers. Our main goal is to reach the robustness and flexibility requirements as a result of the high pr...

Keynote I Middleware for Pervasive and Cyber-Physical Systems

Middleware typically provides abstractions for common tasks such as atomicity, synchronization and communication with the intention of isolating the developers of distributed applications from lower-level details of the underlying platforms. Although one would like to develop generic middleware services which can be used in a variety of different applications, efficiency considerations often fo...

n-Modular Redundant Real-Time Middleware: Design and Implementation

Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) have stringent requirements for size, power, cost, and reaction time. Fault protection mechanisms negatively impact some or all of these considerations. We introduce a software-only framework that leverages the modular and robust design of CPSs to allow more flexibility in detecting and recovering from transient faults. We describe an implementation of this framewo...

An Efficient Cyber-Physical Systems for Mobile Environments: a dynamic integration middleware perspective

With increasing global reliance on the Internet as a medium to make transactions and transmit information comes an increased risk of cyber-attack.In recentyears, integrations of various types of computational, networking, andphysical elements in different environments tend to increase,so interoperability between heterogeneous computing elementshas become a key area of research. A cyber-physical...
